This month I had a great afternoon at Age Scotland on Causewayside learning about the fantastic range of services they provide for older people through their Age Scotland free helpline.

These services include:

• Benefits checks
• Care home advice
• Retirement advice
• Help accessing local activity groups
• Companionship service for those suffering from loneliness and isolation.

I was particularly amazed that of the 4,925 benefit enquiries they received in 2017/18 Age Scotland were able to secure an extra £587,176.68 for older people who otherwise would not have claimed what they were entitled to.
