Dunedin School
Dunedin School

I recently met with the fantastic staff at Dunedin School near Cameron Toll. Dunedin is a “second chance” secondary school, which provides exceptional learning services for young people for whom mainstream education is not appropriate or who need time out from mainstream education.

Dunedin are very concerned about the new development proposals for Cameron Toll shopping centre, which will see a huge hotel built next to the school.

The developers “forgot” to consult with the Dunedin in advance of these proposals despite the potential for them to have a huge impact on the nurturing learning environment provided by the school.

The school do an incredible job for their students and the environment is so important for them to flourish. The building is probably most famous for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle staying there but it’s also where social reformer and suffragette Mary Burton lived.

I have made strong representations to the developers alongside the hundreds of other objections from the school and residents. Hopefully a solution can be found which enables this fantastic school to keep doing what they do best.
