Student Crisis

Student Crisis
Over the summer, numerous students have been getting in touch with me about the crisis precipitated by the marking and assessment boycott at the University of Edinburgh.
It has had a huge impact on the mental and physical health of students in Edinburgh South, particularly affecting those who have jobs, postgraduate study and visas reliant on degree classification.
I have written regularly to Professor Peter Mathieson, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh to ask what university management is doing to resolve the dispute.
You can find more information on this page and on my Facebook about the ongoing dispute and how I am trying to help staff and students in my constituency. If you have any concerns or need my help, please email ian.murray.mp@parliament.uk.
My first letter to Peter Mathieson regarding the student crisis can be found here. You can read his response here.
I have also written to the Principal regarding the impact that the dispute is having on students with visas which you can find here.

I am hosting a student advice session for students in Edinburgh South. You can ask me about healthcare, education, housing, the cost of living and more.
When: 5.30pm-7pm on 2nd november 2023
