Once an account has been opened (with a minimum deposit of just £20) customers can take advantage of the £100 gift card incentive for switching. They will also benefit from one of the best overdrafts in the market at 14.9% EAR. Customers will be able to service their account online, over the phone, at over 11,500 branches nationwide or at any of the 40 mobile Post Offices which visit over 250 rural parts of the UK.

These new accounts will make it much easier for people to do their banking at their local post office, close to home without having to travel far. This is particularly good news for the elderly and disabled.

The Post Office Manager at St James Centre told me: “We are absolutely delighted to be offering the current account. This is an important step forward for St James Post Office and especially for our customers and the local community.• We already offer a number of financial services products and this new account will further meet our customers’ needs. We have worked very hard to offer accounts that are fair and transparent with no surprises.”
