I have now received confirmation from the Post Office that the service will no longer be available in it’s current location. The Post Office has already•begun the franchising process•and are looking for a new operator in the area. I have already written to Scotmid to urge them to take over operation of the Post Office service, as this would cause the least disruption to service users. I will also be writing to residents of the Inch with news of the closure.•

In the meantime, service users can use the Post Office on Liberton Gardens. This will not be convenient for many people, especially pensioners who use the Post Office to draw their pension. I will of course be urging the Post Office to act as quickly as possible to find a suitable replacement operator.
