The former Royal Blind School
The former Royal Blind School at Craigmillar Park is being redeveloped into residential accommodation.
There was a public exhibition this month and CALA are still consulting the public on their proposals. More information here: https://www.cala.co.uk/land-and-planning/planning-applications/royal-blind
New South East Edinburgh Primary School
As part of the new Broomhills development there will be a new primary school to deal with some of the extra pressure. Last month the Council held a public consultation event and are encouraging residents to have their say on the proposals. Comiston Farm House
Finally, after a long campaign to save the historic farm house, it has been listed for sale as a residential property.
Well done to all the local residents who raised awareness of the planning application and ran a fantastic campaign.

Cluny Centre
I shared many residents’ concerns about the proposals to convert the Cluny Centre into a wedding venue. Thankfully Council planners agreed but an infrequently used loophole, which means that applicants can appeal decisions to the Scottish Government without first going through the Council Planning Committee, was activated. As such, the application is currently with the Scottish Government awaiting a decision.
224-234 Mayfield Road
An application to demolish the existing car garage, office building and the above mentioned residential premises to build 158 units of student accommodation has been submitted.
You can comment on the application using the reference: 18/03617/FUL
My colleague Daniel Johnson MSP has also written to local residents to encourage people to comment on the application.
Winton
The Scottish Government has DISMISSED the appeal lodged by Miller Homes for the site at Winton. This is fantastic news for the local community who have now seen off this application three times. Hopefully the issue will now be put to bed but residents will remain vigilant.
