Strategic Development Plan
As some of you may be aware the Strategic Development Plan for South East Scotland has been rejected by the Scottish Government.
This update from City Plan 2030 team relating to this goes into more detail about the refusal and the timetable implications. You may also be interested in this Scotsman piece.
This is important for the precious Greenbelt across the city because the Strategic Development plan (composed by Edinburgh, Midlothian, Fife, West Lothian, East Lothian and Borders Councils) guides local planners on sites suitable for development within each local authority. This will inevitably delay the City Plan 2030 (Edinburgh) and I am particularly worried that the lack of strategic plan will give an opportunity for developers to throw in planning applications left, right and centre and win them on appeal to the Scottish Government. This has happened before as if there is no plan to guide development the Scottish Government can accept appeals based on lack of housing allocation sites.
