Planning

Gilmerton Gateway development – Proposals tabled by local family firm Bernard Hunter would see a food store, 60-bedroom hotel, business start-up units, a medical hub, community hall, neighbourhood shops and archery centre built at Gilmerton Station Road.

Despite massive support from the local community and the support of all local elected representatives Council planners recommended the plans be refused. However the Development Management sub-Committee agreed to a formal hearing to give councillors the opportunity to visit the site. I welcome this and very much hope these plans are accepted.

Frogston Road East (next to Broomhills site)  19/04172/PAN – As we have know for a long time Barratt homes have been planning on developing this Green Belt site. I can assure all residents I will be opposing this application as it further reduces our precious Green Belt and serves as a precedent for future applications.

There will be a public exhibition on Friday 25th October from 2pm – 7pm at Gilmerton Society Hall, 27 Drum Street, Edinburgh, EH17 8NQ. This is an opportunity for residents to find out more about the application and question the developer on specific points.

I will be writing to all residents to encourage comments on the application in due course.
