|Firstly, I would just like to say thank you to the people of Edinburgh South for putting their faith in me at the ballot box this month. I’m humbled by the support and whether you voted for me or not, or didn’t vote at all, I’ll be here to help.
My office will be closed from lunch time today (23rd December) until 6th January. Please contact me by email if there is an emergency. Otherwise I have provided a list of useful agency contact numbers at the bottom of this email which you may find useful.

Christmas Card Competition
This year, my Christmas card (see image above) was designed by Laila Beint, Primary 7a pupil from Sciennes Primary School.
In celebration of my 10th Annual Christmas card competition as the Member of Parliament for Edinburgh South, I was delighted to choose Laila’s intricate fairy light design as the winning entry.
This year we again saw more than 2,000 children from fourteen schools in Edinburgh South take part and it remains the most popular MP Christmas card competition in the country.
Due to generous sponsorship from Sainsbury’s at Cameron Toll every school winner get a prize. You can see some of the winning school entries below.
As well as being my constituency Christmas card a small number are sent around the world, and once again this year will go to 10 Downing Street and Buckingham Palace for the Queen.
Due to the General Election I wasn’t able to print and distribute cards this year but I’m sure you will agree that the local artistic talent is as brilliantly displayed in an electronic card as it is in a physical card. It’s also better for the environment.
The teachers, parents and all of the young people who take part each year deserve special praise for the continued success of the competition, and I would like to thank you all.
Huge thanks also go to Kirstyn Mitchell, Operations Manager, and the fantastic team at Sainsbury’s Cameron Toll for their generous assistance, and to all of my constituents for their kindness and support throughout the year.
Season’s Greetings and a very Murray Christmas!
Ian Murray MP
