As part of my efforts to honour those who have gone above and beyond over Covid I have been presenting Community Hero awards throughout the constituency.

This month I presented Linda Wright of Liberton Kirk with my Community Hero Award for her work preventing loneliness and isolation in the community during Covid. It is so important we recognise the people who have gone above and beyond over the course of the pandemic. Well done Linda, John and everyone at Liberton Kirk for the work you do for your community. I know from the many nominations Linda received how important the work she does is to local people.

Over the pandemic The Bike Station refurbished over 300 ‘Hero Bikes’ which they donated to key workers. At a time when bike shops were so busy this was a truly selfless community initiative and I know many recipients are still using the bikes for their daily commute.
