Ian Murray MP Working Hard for Edinburgh South
I was grateful to Rev Jack Holt of Polwarth Parish Church for the invite to attend their annual Canal Festival Day event where they officially open the mooring that Scottish Canals has installed adjacent to the church.
It was a fun day that allowed me to meet a number of people associated with the church and also learn about their canal project designed to enhance the community by providing a location (both internal and external) to improve wholeness and well-being for people of all ages. The next stage, now that the jetty is open, is to purchase a narrow boat for the church community to utilise.
Also, on the day, Rev Holt was hosting four people (two ministers and two elders) from the Presbytery of e-Goli in Johannesburg, South Africa, who were in Edinburgh at that time to explore a possible twinning between their Presbytery and the Presbytery of Edinburgh. It was good to meet them. They were all wrapped up from head to foot in warm clothes. It was only 20 degrees after all.
