This month has seen more depressing news at Liberton High School as key repairs – which were to be scheduled over the summer – were not completed for pupils returning after the summer holidays.
Pupils, parents and teachers are having to devote so much energy towards the dilapidated building it is distracting from the fantastic work Liberton High is doing educating the next generation.
Every other high school in the Edinburgh South cluster has been replaced or rebuilt and Liberton High deserves more than a few delayed repairs. The Scottish Government should use some of its £400m underspend from this year and give the money for a new Liberton High School.
My recent article for the Edinburgh Evening News also mentions Liberton High School.
