Ian and Scott

It was a pleasure to attend Fairmilehead Eco Fare with my colleague Councillor Scott Arthur.

There were some interesting policy suggestions for me and Scott to think about, both at a local and national level, including: levying more substantial fines on polluters and building more cycleways throughout the city. I also got a very good briefing from the solar industry on recent negative changes to feed-in-tariffs.

Climate change is such an important issue that we have to work across parties.

I have been working with the OpenBritian and Members of Parliament from the Conservatives, Greens and Liberal Democrats on plastic pollution. This campaign has had tangible results with the Chancellor announcing recently that the Government will levy a new tax on plastic packaging to discourage non-recyclable plastics.
