Ian Murray MP Working Hard for Edinburgh South
Impact Project:
I had the pleasure of visiting the architects behind Edinburgh’s first purpose built music and performing arts venue in 100 years – the IMPACT centre. I was able to see the proposed design and learn about the potential benefits of investing in Edinburgh’s arts.
The IMPACT centre plans to be a state of the art concert hall that will seat 1000 people. The venue will be located just off St Andrew’s Square and will provide ideal acoustics for contemporary music, whilst allowing for the expansion of the Book Festival along George Street. It will allow even more culture to flourish in the heart of our city particularly during the International Festival.
Whatever you think about these specific proposals I think most people agree that it is important that the cultural scene in the Capital stays competitive with other cities in Scotland and across the UK. To attract the best bands and performers we have to renew our cultural infrastructure. Click here to find out more.
