This month there was more disappointing news for the high street in Morningside as the local Santander branch at 194-196 Morningside Rd is set to close later this year. This announcement was part of a larger package of closures which will see Santander cut 140 branches across the UK.

The branch will close in December 2019. The closest Santander Branch is at 356 Morningside Road. Please see a list of alternatives banking opinions below:

I am very disappointed with this news and the trend in general which is seeing well used services cease trading on our high streets. Indeed, the letter which notified me of the closure actually advised customers to do their banking at the Crown Post Office – which is also shutting down. Thankfully the Post Office will be franchised and relocating further up Morningside Road.

I am particularly worried by the impact this will have on elderly residents who have little or no access to online banking and I will be working with Santander to make sure they communicate alternatives effectively.
