I was pleased to launch a new community initiative at Polwarth Parish Church on Saturday with the wonderful congregation led by Rev Jack Holt.
This is an innovative collaboration with Edinburgh charity People Know How and it will utilise the new pontoon at the church to launch a canal boat for use of the local community.
People Know How will use it to facilitate their work with young people. The “All Aboard” project will bring together the church, local community, and young people to enhance their development and transition into high school. It will also allow them to learn about the canal.
Thanks to the Rev Holt and Glenn Liddall for a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine. (Rev Holt is a rather fine musician as well and kept us entertained).
The official launch of All Aboard was signified by Jack and Glenn blowing the traditional Bosun whistle.
I wish this wonderful initiative all the very best of luck.
Lastly, there is also a rather fine community cafe at Polwarth Parish Church on a Tuesday. Get along if you can.
