Great visit with the Head Teacher and Depute Head Teachers at Gilmerton Primary School as they settled into their new school year.

I met with some of the P7 children who took me on a tour round the school and told me about school life. Gilmerton Primary have a well-attended breakfast and after school club and a fantastic nurture area where pupils express themselves through art. They had a few questions for me too – including asking me about Brexit!

There is a lot of building work going on to improve the school and I’m looking forward to visiting again once the work has been completed. I am hoping the recent fire close to the school hasn’t had a lasting impact on the works.
