Great to catch up with Lothian Buses Managing Director, Richard Hall, and Director of Communications, Gaynor Marshall to talk about the services in and out of the city. They provide the best public transport system in the country by a long way. We spoke about the operations, their new services, expansion plans and new vehicles. They have cut their emissions by a factor of 36 in 20 years due to the new Euro 6 buses.

I also met with Tracy in the control room. She has been with the company for nearly 30 years and monitors all the buses out on the roads for defect and the safety of passengers.

The drivers are amazing. They are not just bus drivers but provide an outstanding public service. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful bus service and that is due to the outstanding bus drivers we have and the service they provide.

I always wanted to be a bus driver when I was a young boy so loved visiting the depot. Maybe next time I will get a shot to drive a bus. I wonder who I could have as my Blakey?
