Edinburgh-based Forth Valley Chorus (directed by musician and solicitor David Sangster) succeeded
in making history once again in New Orleans in September 2019. Forth Valley, along with
scores of other Barbershop choruses and quartets filled the Smoothie King Centre with harmony
for a full week. Forth Valley represented Sweet Adeline’s International Region 31 Quartet of Nations
– which includes all Great Britain and the Netherlands – and put both Scotland and the
UK on the Barbershop map by making it into the glorious TOP 10 SET in the ‘Olympics of
Women’s Barbershop’. This is the first time a region 31 chorus has EVER featured in the TOP 10.
The placing allowed them to perform a stunning full 4 song set on Saturday September 21st. The
Forth Valley package evoked both emotion and exuberance and landed them a 10th place spot
with the best of barbershop across the globe. The chorus are still reeling in delight and don
their medals with pride.
Forth Valley Chorus (FVC) is formed of a group of dynamic and tuneful women who range in age
from 21– 80, and come from not only Edinburgh, but also Fife, Peebles, Dollar and Aberdeen.
We’d be happy to sing a song and/or give a taste of our semi-finals package that took us to the
FVC recently performed for the Scottish Parliament celebrations on June 29th.
Upcoming shows include Usher Hall Oct 10th, 2020. www.forthvalleychorus.org
