Update from Police Scotland on recent anti-social behaviour in the Moredun area:

We are aware of the community concerns within the Moredun area and officers have been proactively patrolling this area.  This month alone we have carried out significant activity within the area, which included setting up police mobile stalls outside the Spar at Moredunvale Road and Moredun House to actively engage with the community.  We have carried out extensive letter drops within certain parts of the area highlighting drug dealing and criminal exploitation as well as carrying out an environmental crime prevention scan – our findings were shared with the necessary partner agencies for action as they see fit.

We will proactively engage with local business and other agencies to ensure a collective partnership approach to address issues within the area.   This includes discussing with the housing department any person residing in social accommodation identified to be involved in antisocial behaviour, or causing a disturbance to the community, to ensure they are supported or when appropriate more direct enforcement action is taken.

Any person identified to be involved in criminality, or causing harm to the community, will be robustly pursued as it will not be tolerated.   To help us do this, we need the community to communicate and work with us.  They do not have to report directly, they also have the option of reporting anonymously via CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.  We have recently highlighted different ways members of the public can contact the police via our social media channel @EdinPolSe in an effort to encourage communication and reporting.

Constituents wishing to contact the community policing team directly can do so emailing the community team directly at EdinburghCPTSouthEast@scotland.pnn.police.uk or telephoning 101.
