In what feels like another Groundhog Day for Edinburgh’s Green Belt developers Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes have submitted an application to develop the above site.

This is the second time in recent years developers have lodged plans for this site and comes as Edinburgh is in the process of putting together its latest local development plan – the draft of which explicitly rules out more development of our Green Belt.

Despite that, as is always the case, the developers can circumvent any refusal by the Council and lodge an appeal with the Scottish Government. The Scottish Government has many times in the past overruled local authority decisions and granted development on the Green Belt.

The online consultation was held on 25^th November and we now await a full planning application from the developers. I will be writing to residents to encourage opposition to this.
