Save Our Bus Routes

Many constituents have been getting in touch with me recently regarding cuts to bus services in South Edinburgh.

Edinburgh has one of the best bus networks in Scotland, but our bus routes are feeling the full force of Scottish Government funding cuts to services.

In South Edinburgh, constituents have been writing to me about the 41 and 49 routes in particular which have been hugely affected. This is particularly disappointing for South East Edinburgh after the 42 route was cut a few years ago.

While housing development and population have grown in South East Edinburgh, there has been no improvement in public service provision since the SNP government directly overruled the council and encouraged development in the area.

This has meant that services like GPs, schools and public transport have all been stretched to breaking point. You can sign my Build Better Places petition which asks the Scottish Government to provide additional funding for public services in South East Edinburgh by clicking here.
