Ian and the Pakistan Society helped launch the Braids Rotary Club Pakistan ShelterBox appeal to help flood stricken families in Pakistan.• The Braids Rotary club are joining Rotary members throughout the world in sending aid to Pakistan through the ShelterBox scheme.• Shelterbox was the brain child of one Rotarian member 10 years ago and has grown to be the Rotary clubs biggest campaign in their 100 year history, with almost 90,000 ShelterBoxes sent to disaster areas to date.

With the support of the Eric Liddell Centre on Morningside Road the Braids Rotary Club have erected a sample tent and supplies which are included in every ShelterBox outside the Eric Liddell Centre on the corner of Morningside Road and Chamberlain Road, where volunteers will be collecting donations to help fund the £500 boxes which are going directly to the flood victims of Pakistan.• Ianwas joined by Jim Bryce of the Braids Rotary Club, Bob Randal of the Eric Liddell Centre and Amjad Chaudhry Chair of the Pakistan Society to help launch the scheme.

Ian said “Shelterbox is a fantastic initiative that has helped thousands of people affected by disasters throughout the world.• The devastation caused by the floods in Pakistan is horrific and I urge people to come along and see firsthand the Braids Rotary Club’s ShelterBox campaign and donate what they can to help raise funds to send as many boxes to Pakistan as Possible.”

Braids Rotary Club volunteers will be stationed at the Eric Liddell Centre until Thursday at 5pm to collect your cash and provide information about the scheme.• However if you can’t make it down to the centre you can donate money direct to victims of the floods in their local communities in Pakistan via the Pakistan Society Office at 137 Buccleuch Street, Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 1.30pm, 0131 662 9446.
