This Tuesday I invited the Treasury Minister to tell the House and country that his Government would rule out any more substantial tax cuts for the richest before the next General Election. With so many families around the country struggling to get by, I believe that reducing the top rate of tax is the wrong choice.

The Minister’s reluctance to commit to this showed yet again that the Conservatives are the party of the rich: prioritising their wishes while remaining completely out of touch with ordinary people.
