Last week, I voted once again to scrap the Bedroom Tax.

The Bedroom Tax is an unfair measure that hits around half a million low income households with two thirds of the households affected include a person with a disability and the tax also hits 60,000 carers.

Unfortunately, the vote was lost by 32 votes.• However, we’ve been clear that the next Labour Government will repeal the Bedroom Tax and will deal with under-occupation by funding local authorities who are able to help people with the costs of moving to suitable accommodation, using the funding set aside by the Government through Discretionary Housing Payments for dealing with the problems caused by the Bedroom Tax.?
