Scottish Questions happens in the House of Commons every 4-5 weeks.• It is a half hour session at 11:30-12:00 before Prime Ministers Questions on a Wednesday.• As the Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland I get to ask the Secretary of State three questions.• At this session I asked two questions on child poverty and one on Full Fiscal Autonomy.

In my first question I paid tribute to Charles Kennedy and asked the Secretary of State how many more Scottish children will be in poverty as a result of his Governments changes.

He said there was no evidence to suggest there would be an impact. Not according to the Child Poverty Action Group and the Institute for Fiscal Studies. The problem is that his answer to my supplementary question was that the best way out of poverty was to get into work.

I do agree but where he is missing the point is that 60% of Scottish children who are classed as being in poverty are from families where one or both of the parents work. That is the issue and something he refused to address.

My final question at Scottish Questions was whether or not the Government would back Labours amendment to the Scotland Bill for an independent commission on the consequences of Full Fiscal Autonomy on Scotland.
