There has been lots of planning stuff recently.••I have been trying to get the information out as wide as possible to the•local communities affected.

Here are the latest details:-

GILMERTON STATION ROAD

This is part of the Local Development Plan (LDP) process but an individual application was also submitted by the developers for this site.• It has been granted on appeal.• Another nail in the coffin for local planning democracy.

We need the planning laws changed to ensure that any developer has to choose to either enter the LDP process or submit and individual application – but not both.

We also need a limited 3rd party right of appeal.

Lastly, we need it to be easier, and less costly, for local communities to enter the court system to challenge the law around applications.• It is too expensive and cumbersome.• This would deliver much needed transparency to the system.

The letter from the Scottish Government reporter says:-

PLANNING PERMISSION APPEAL: LAND 292 METRES WEST OF 10 GILMERTON STATION ROAD EDINBURGH

I refer to previous correspondence in connection with this appeal and, in particular, to your letter of representation. The reporter has decided that planning permission will be granted provided an agreement under Section 75 of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 is reached between the planning authority and the appellant. The planning permission will not be issued until that agreement is reached and registered.A copy of the notice of intention issued by the reporter is attached and is available on our website www.dpea.scotland.gov.uk.”

WINTON ROAD

there is currently a planning application in place from Miller Homes Ltd to build on the Wintons Greenbelt (land to the east of Wintons Gardens to be known as Wintons East, Edinburgh).•

We fought this in 2011 and it was refused on appeal but the developers are back AGAIN, for the 3rd time.

I wanted to let you know that Fairmilehead Church has been confirmed as the venue for the public exhibition for the Miller Homes Ltds pre-application consultation event.•

The event will run from 3.15pm to 7pm on the 25th August.• I would encourage as many residents as possible to attend and ensure your voices are heard.

FROGSTON ROAD WEST

The proposals to build 18 new homes at Frogston Road West was refused by the Council in late March of this year.

I have just been notified that the developers have appealed this decision.

Any resident who objected to the original application will have their comments sent to the Scottish Government Reporters in order for them to build their case.

We really need the planning system changed to be more responsive, transparent and fair to local people.

As always. get in touch if I can help with any of these issues.

The other major development applications in South Edinburgh will no doubt be coming up soon………
