The remarks by Ken Livingstone today were•appalling and merely fan the flames of intolerance. The leadership of the Labour Party must take swift action to root out any forms of anti-Semitism and expel Ken Livinstone and anyone else who brings this Party into disrepute with views that are not in keeping with the proud traditions and values of the Labour Party. Values that have stood up to all forms of•inequality•and•discrimination•throughout history.

The mark of a decent society is how we treat people. We all stand in solidarity against all forms of racism, sectarianism, anti-Semitism and fascism. We should all have a shared desire to root out views that aim to undermine the way of life that we all value. Efforts to spread discrimination and hate will not succeed if we stand together.
