It was a pleasure to meet the new Police Scotland Chief Constable, Phil Gormley at Westminster.

We discussed lots of national issues such as the dilution of community policing in Scotland. I know that many people across the country are concerned that Police Scotland has become overly centralised and local accountability has been lost. Old Police Boards, chaired by senior elected members kept local issues to the fore, and the local forces were held much more accountable to local areas than they are now

We also discussed local issues such as house break-ins which are a big worry for many local residents in south Edinburgh.
