Residents and local groups in Marchmont and Sciennes are using ‘Right to Buy’ legislation to try and ensure the future use of the Sick Kids Hospital remains in the public interest.

•NHS services are due to move away from the hospital to Little France in the spring of next year and a number of private developers have already submitted bids for the four acre site.

However, the Marchmont and Sciennes Development Trust has been formed to try and persuade the Scottish Government to enact new laws which give community groups the first option to buy land and buildings.

An application has now been submitted to Scottish ministers and more information on the campaign can be found at www.marchmontsciennesdt.wordpress.com
