Ian Murray MP Working Hard for Edinburgh South
During the disgraceful white pride march in Edinburgh recently, I joined a counter-demonstration to tell the fascist activists that they were not welcome in our city.
About 40 National Front protesters were met by hundreds of counter protesters – •a clear rejection of the politics of division, racism and intolerance.
In my address to the crowd I talked about the recent Westminster attacks and my friend Jo Cox’s murder at the hands of a far right extremist. We should stand united together against any form of racism, fascism and intolerance in all its forms. We are at a crossroads in history where, now more than ever, we must redouble our efforts to defend the rights and values of what we all believe in -; equality, tolerance and mutual respect.
