Great news for the campaign to Save Comiston Farm House. At the latest Planning Committee, councillors unanimously rejected the planning application which would have seen the destruction of the historic house.

This is fantastic news and testament to all those who devoted so much time and energy into saving the building. Hundreds of people signed my petition and made representations to the Council on the application. This goes to show that well channelled public opposition can have a real effect.•

However, we are not out of the woods just yet. The developers have 3 months to appeal the decision with the Scottish Government. Given that the Council planners recommended granting the application, •I would not be surprised if they do decide to go to appeal. Furthermore, the Scottish Government have form on overturning decisions.

In the meantime a huge thanks to Liz, Simon, Fairmilehead Association and Fairmilehead Community Council who have campaigned against this and argued so effectively at committee.•
