The eastern side of the Inch has long been plagued by congestion and parking problems. This issue is raised time and time again with my office and was the number one issue on the door step during the recent election.

The survey clearly shows that hospital workers are parking on the eastern side of the Inch to avoid hospital parking charges. This is making it extremely difficult for residents to get parked in the estate.

The Council will now consult with residents with a view to implementing some form of priority parking system. It is important to note that the Council will only press ahead with a permit system with the consent of the residents. If there is widespread opposition the plans will be shelved.•
