According to reports, a number of hauliers haven’t been granted an ECMT permit – with the government’s registration system showing an error that claimed “the application window for permits closed on 01 January 1970”. Commenting, Best for Britain supporter Ian Murray MP said:

“This is another clumsy misstep in the government’s chaotic road to Brexit.

“We’re supposedly a month away from leaving the EU and hauliers are still being denied permits. Meanwhile the permit registration system claims to have been closed since early 1970.

“This is another epic Grayling failing.

“Rather than continue with this farce, the public should be offered the opportunity to remain in the EU through a people’s vote.”
