Commenting on the latest growth figures, released by the ONS this morning, Ian Murray MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:

“We now know that this broken Brexit process has made us worse off and we haven’t even left yet.

“In 2017 we were the worst performing economy in the G7  – the only one not to experience an uplift in growth – while in 2018 we had the weakest growth since the financial crisis of a decade ago.

“The referendum vote was driven, at least in part, by the dismal performance of the economy since that crisis and this broken Brexit has only made this worse.

“Now that we can see the damage already done to jobs, investment and living standards, the right thing to do is to ask the people if they want to ratify any Brexit deal, especially when no matter how you slice or dice it, any deal will fall far short of the promises that were made in 2016.”
