This month I joined friends and colleagues to celebrate the 70th anniversary of our wonderful National Health Service. The great reforming Labour Government of 1945 introduced universal health care and it is up to us, 70 years later, to consolidate and build on the health service.   I was very fortunate to visit the parliamentary archives to look at the original 1947 Act that brought in the NHS.
