It was a great privilege to play at Stamford Bridge in a MPs v ex-pros match for the excellent charity Show Racism the Red Card. The match was designed to raise awareness for anti-discrimination organisation Show Racism the Red Card and pay tribute to Graham Taylor and Cyrille Regis.
Among those ex-pros on show were former Chelsea stars Ken Monkou and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, while others involved on the day included Chris Powell, Alex McLeish, Liam Rosenior, Anwar Uddin and comedian Patrick Monahan.
In a season where we have seen a worrying rise in racism and hooliganism in and around football, it is important we stand together to drive hate out of our game.
In the match itself we were predictably outplayed and lost 8-4. Thanks to Chelsea, the PFA, the FA and of course Show Racism the Red Card for organising and promoting the event.
