Credit Where It
Credit Where It's Due

Pension Credit is a vital lifeline to many. It is a financial top-up to some of the pensioners who need it most, and helps ensure that older people do not have to choose between eating or heating their home.

With one in six UK pensioners currently living in poverty, I believe it is a scandal that this important safety net is failing.

That is why I am supporting the Credit Where It’s Due campaign by Independent Age. Independent Age is calling on the Government to reform Pension Credit to make sure that everyone who is entitled to this money receives it.

To achieve this, they want the Government to commit to a target of at least 75% of eligible people receiving Pension Credit by the end of 2020, at least 85% by the end of 2022 and 100% by 2025.

To reach these target Independent Age are calling on the Government to put in place an ambitious action plan stating improvements that must be made to Pension Credit.
