"We benefit culturally and economically from our membership of the European Union. This parliament I will be fighting to make sure we have the closest possible relationship with our European friends and partners as we sadly leave the EU" Ian Murray MP
Ian Murray MP

I voted to remain in the European Union because I am passionate about the huge cultural, social and economic benefits we get by being part of a union of nations and peoples.

When the UK voted to leave the European Union on 23 June 2016 I was very active in Parliament – trying to shape the Brexit process. Across a whole range of issues I challenged the Government’s destructive hard-Brexit strategy which would undoubtedly have done irreversible damage to our country.

I am a member of the pro-European group Open Britain and a founding member of the campaign group, Scottish Labour for the Single Market.

I am also a founding MP member of the People’s Vote campaign – which was calling for a vote on the final deal the government agree with the EU.

After the disastrous results in the 2019 General Election I will be fighting to make sure we have the closest possible relationship with our EU friends and neighbours after Brexit.
